rated classic in Mormonism, but was pivotal in the first 50 years of it’s publications; unfortunately, despite having been published in multiple editions in the 1800’s it isn’t the easiest things to find in LDS Book Stores (e.g. Deseret Book).

Review: In current rankings and influence of this book – I have given this a 3 Star book, but I hope you take the recommendation to get this book seriously!

The Keys to the Science of Theology is the second major text from the great mind of Parley P. Pratt – and it was first printed in 1855 only a year before his assassination.  This text was an extremely influential book at the time of its publication, and for the next fifty years.  During that fifty years, it would be published in nearly every language that the church was present in, and would have a number of different editions.

Pratt seems to go through and seeks to systematically address the theology, of not only the church, but of God.  It is considered a classic in every form of the word.

In later years this text would not necessarily be replaced, but in the early 1900’s as the church moved into a new century, and away from the direct memory of the restoration, new leadership and theological thought took lead (e.g. Talmage, Roberts, etc.)… and the Pratts got pushed out in more modern thought; particularly as their contributions were no longer considered as revolutionary, but taken for granted as just what it was.

I recommend to that every missionary (if not member of the church) read as much as they can of Parley P. Pratt.

Suggestions:  If you are curious – you should get it.
